Employability Projects Manager

I have been working in employability for 10 years providing employment support and advice to Disabled people and people with long term health conditions. I’ve been with WECIL for 6 years and a manager for 4. My current role is to provide advice and support to businesses to be more inclusive and accessible to Disabled people through their recruitment processes, in-work support and access audits. I am passionate about removing barriers that Disable people face in their day to day lives and work with a fantastic team of staff and volunteers. Outside of work I enjoy going on walks with my rescue dog especially if a coffee/slice of cake is involved, reading, crocheting and spending time in my garden.

Business Support Services Manager

I have been in the business sector for 9 years after a 10 year career in the Youth Work sector. I have been with WECIL for 6 years and I'm part of our Senior Leadership Team. My role within WECIL is to develop our business support service offer through training and consultancy, building strong strategic and working relationships with businesses, organisations and local authorities and providing guidance and support in inclusive practices. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my wife and two children as well as my big interests which are Football, Wrestling, Anime and Music.

We are user led

WECIL is user led and the Social Model of Disability is at the heart of what we do. The social model of disability states that people are disabled by societal, attitudinal and environmental barriers rather than their impairment. We help you understand this model and how you can help remove barriers and become more inclusive.

Unlike other organisations, our lived experience and understanding of what being inclusive and accessible actually means to a Disabled person helps you implement meaningful changes.

Our History

From our beginnings in 2016 to the launch of our new identity in 2022, we have been providing user led guidance and support to local authorities, public and private sector organisations for years, and there is an exciting future ahead for Disability.Inc.

Strategic Partnerships

For businesses and organisations who require support in multiple areas, considering a strategic partnership is more cost effective. So what does it mean to be a strategic partner?

  • Strategic partners benefit from exclusive opportunities to partner with WECIL in joint funding bids in relation to diversity and inclusion. WECIL will also work with strategic partners to identify and apply for funding towards partnership criteria e.g. employability, research and funding to undertake any accessibility support.
  • Strategic partners have the opportunity to work with WECIL’s employability services to offer inclusive and accessible work placements/work trials and volunteering opportunities.
  • Strategic partners will be promoted as a partner of WECIL via social media and will have a direct link to their website via a strategic partner’s webpage on WECIL’s website.
  • Strategic partners will have access to the WECIL community in order to ensure the voices of disabled people are being heard in consultations and research projects.
